Hays Eagles fall twice to Great Bend in season opener

GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Hays Eagles Senior American Legion baseball team dropped both ends of their season opening doubleheader with Great Bend Wednesday. The Chiefs scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to blow open a one-run game and take the opener 8-2. The Chiefs used an eight-run third to blow open game two for a 12-2 win.

Cole Murphy allowed two runs in in 1 1/3 innings relief in the first contest and suffered the loss. Jared Haynes and Cole Murphy drove in the two Eagles runs.

Dalton Stout suffered the loss in the second game after giving up nine runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings. Marcus Altman and Jared Haynes both had two hits.
