The Summer Art Walk continues to grow in size, and this year’s is one of the most diverse summer events they have had, according to Hays Arts Council Director Brenda Meder.
Meder said some of the feature exhibits include an iron pour, airbrushed area rugs, a bonsai tree display and barbed wire design.
Two local artists will also have exhibitions at the Hays Arts Council collectively titled “Creative Obsessions.”
According to Meder, Kevin Lundy from Wilson will have his paintings on wood instead of canvas on display. Robert Joy from Great Bend will also have his mixed media designs on display at the HAC as part of the exhibit which will be up at the HAC for the entire summer.
There will be 18 different locations on this year’s art walk which will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. although there are three locations with early or extended times.
Meder said it is, “an incredibly diverse art walk that just show cases the depth, breadth and scope that really involves creativity and the arts.”
From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sternberg Museum is hosting the Lure of the Ocean exhibit.
Gella’s Diner is one of three locations hosting live music Friday night. Gella’s will have live Jazz from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In past years, the Summer Art Walk was just two and a half hours but Meder said they have extended to three full hours to keep it consistent with the other art walks and it give people time to see everything.
“It’s free. There’s no admission,” said Meder “You visit whatever places you want in whatever order you want.”
