Larks stay hot; sweep Liberal

LIBERAL, Kan. – The Hays Larks go 6-0 on their first road trip of the season after an 11-1 rout of Liberal Thursday night at Brent Gould Field. Austin O’Brien and Austin Bell both had three of Hays’ 14 hits. Bell and Jacob Boston drove in a run in the fourth to five the Larks the lead for good and finished with two RBIs as the Larks improve 12-1 overall and 8-1 in the Jayhawk League.

Hays scored two in the fourth then added single runs in the fifth and sixth then blew the game open with a six-run seventh inning.

Starter Alex Lopez (3-0) allowed one hit over six innings with three strikeouts and two walks for the win.

The Larks are back home this weekend for three games with the third place Bethany (Okla.) Bulls. Friday night is First Responders Night with free admission provided by Invenergy and the Platinum Group. Saturday is the annual McKids Day with free admission courtesy of McDonald’s. Sunday is Military Appreciation Night. The VFW, Golden Corral and Kiwanis Club are the buyout sponsors. All three games begin at 7 pm.
