WELLINGTON, Kan. – It seems about the only thing that can slow down the Hays Larks is the weather. Thursday night’s series finale in Wellington was rained out. No word on any makeup date, but Monday is the only open day for both teams before the First Half race in the Jayhawk League ends on Thursday.
The Larks (16-2, 12-2 JL) currently sit 2 1/2 games ahead of second place Dodge City (12-5, 10-5 JL) who beat Liberal 9-2 Thursday night. The Larks and Athletics will meet three times next week, two of them in Dodge City.
Friday night the Larks return home for the start of a three-game series with the last place Derby Twins (4-12, 4-10 JL) who were also rained Thursday.
All three games start at 7 pm and admission is free all three nights. Friday’s buyout sponsor is Nex-Tech Wireless. Saturday is Larkstoberfest with authentic German food and music prior to the game which is sponsored by Nex-Tech. Sunday, Downing-Nelson Oil, Qdoba Mexican Grill and Dr. Michael Hatten are the buyout sponsors. You can hear Sunday night’s game on KAYS (1400-AM, 94.3-FM) beginning at 6:45 pm.
