Four Larks named to the NBC World Series All-American Team

WICHITA – The National Baseball Congress has determined the 2016 All-American Team for the 82nd NBC World Series.

Manager of the Year:
Bill Pintard (Santa Barbara Foresters). With his record-tying sixth NBC World Series Championship, Pintard after the game, “It’s so special because it’s all of these guy’s first (National Championship) I may have six, but it’s all about the players, day in and day out they come in to work hard and get better and I could not be happier for this group.”

Pitchers:
Jayson Yano (San Diego Force) – Tournament leading 0.00 ERA including a complete game, 2 hit shutout of the Dodge City A’s. And 5 2/3rds innings of work, 0 Earned Runs and 4 K’s, against the tournament leader (batting) NJCAA National Team. Jayson’s totals for the tournament included 6 total strikeouts to only 1 walk.

Jacob Patterson (Santa Barbara Foresters) – The Championship MVP, also boasted a 0.00 ERA in 2 appearances. He pitched 7 scoreless innings in the deciding game of the 82nd NBC World Series against the Hays Larks with 5 K’s and only 2 walks. He held opponents to a staggering batting average of .111 for the tournament.

Keegan Curtis (Hays Larks) – Led the tournament with 20 strikeouts in only 11 innings of work. With a tournament ERA 2.45, he held the well-known Kansas Stars to only 3 hits in 5 innings of work to go along with 9 K’s.

Kyle Johnston (Santa Barbara Foresters) – The tournament’s “Top Prospect” out of The University of Texas had an ERA of 1.50 to go along with 14 K’s in 12 innings of work. The 20 year-old from Flowermound, Texas also held opponents to a batting average of only .151.

Daniel James (Hays Larks) – Our final All-American pitcher of the 2016 NBC World Series includes Daniel James of Lubbock, Texas. The 6’4” pitcher came in in relief in the 17 inning marathon against the Kansas Stars allowing only 2 hits, 1 walk and striking out 6. All the while not letting a single run cross the plate and clinching the most dramatic win in recent NBC World Series history. His numbers for the tournament included: 10 K’s, 2 BB’s, 2 hits, 1 win and 1 save. Opponents batted .033 against the lanky right-hander from UT Arlington. 2

Infielders:
1st Base – Rhett Aplin (NJCAA National Team) .556 BA, 4 RBI, 5 runs scored, to go along with 1 double, 1 triple and 1 walk.

2nd Base – Grant Buchanan (Colorado Cyclones) .500 BA, 4 RBI, 3 runs scored, two doubles and a triple.

3rd Base – Bret Boswell (Santa Barbara Foresters) .400 BA, 14 RBI (Tournament Leader), 2 HR, 2 doubles and a stolen base.

Shortstop – Jacob Boston (Hays Larks) .458 BA, 7 RBI, 6 runs scored, 1 double, 1 triple and 4 SB

Outfielders:
Michael Burns (Hays Larks) – The well-known story out of Littleton, Colorado led the tournament with 15 hits to go along with 3 stolen bases, 6 walks and 4 RBI. He batted .536 for the tournament with 2 doubles and a triple in a runner-up finish.

Derek Nakasoto (San Diego Force) – To go along with his tournament leading .667 BA he scored 4 runs, drove in 6 and recorded 1 double and 1 triple in his 2016 World Series appearance.

Parker O’Dell (Park City Rangers) – drove in 6 RBI in only 3 games to go along with a .500 BA and 1 HR.

Catchers:
Brady Cox (Liberal Bee Jays) – Received the 2016 “Just Block It Catcher Award” for tournament’s best catcher. Brady batted .333 with 5 walks 4 runs scored and 6 RBI. He also recorded a stolen base and a triple. Who says catchers can’t run.

Sam Thorne (San Diego Force) – .500 BA, 5 RBI, and 2 walks with 1 run scored. Solid defensively behind the plate with a 1.000 Fielding Percentage.

Utility:
Joseph DeRoche-Duffin (San Diego Force) – only batted .294 but drove in 9 RBI on 3 HR (Tournament Leader) 2 doubles and 4 walks.

Cale O’Donnell (Liberal Bee Jays) – .346 BA, scored 10 runs on 3 doubles, 2 triples and 1 HR. He also drove in 13 RBI on 9 hits and drew 3 walks.

Designated Hitter:
Isaiah Aluko (Alaska Goldpanners) – .412 BA, drove in 9 RBI with 2 doubles and 1 HR to go along with 2 stolen bases. 3
