“Swing Into HealthCare 2016” a Fun Success

 

Gove County Medical Center

On Friday, August 12, 2016, the Gove County Medical Center hosted a charity golf tournament, “Swing Into HealthCare 2016” at the Cow Paddy Golf Course in Grinnell.

The tournament helped raise money to replace the autoclave machine in the Gove County Medical Center surgical department. The autoclave sterilizes surgical instruments which are used not only in the surgical department, but also in physical therapy, the Long Term Care Facility, and on the hospital floor.

Forty-four golfers enjoyed a beautiful August day on the greens.  The tournament featured several games, including teeing off a Styrofoam cup, shooting a clay pigeon, teeing off from a toilet, and chipping the ball into a tank.  Other challenges included Longest Putt, closest to the pin and longest drive for men, and longest drive for women.

Winners include:  Longest Putt – Nancy Wolf; Closest to the Pin – Brad Mullins; Women’s Longest Drive – Ruth Blackwill  $50.00 (donated by Aflac – Trent Schneider) ; and Men’s Longest Drive – Doug Kuntz a golf package of head cover, dozen golf balls, and golf towel (donated by Aflac – Trent Schneider.

Flight One, first place winners were T J Dearing and Jordan Fee. Second place was Trent Schneider and Rick Wolf.  In the second flight, 1st place winners were Shawn Cross and Todd Knight of Kansas City, and the second place team was Tom Broeckelman and Don Corwin.  First place winners in flight three were Keven and Nancy Wolf.  Second place winners were Darren Flax and Doug Kuntz.

Door prize winners included the following:  Nancy Wolf – an umbrella from Waddell and Reed (Alex Leslie); Harvey Heier, also won an umbrella from Waddell & Reed (Alex Leslie); $25.00 Sam’s Club certificate – Ruth Blackwill; $50.00 Wal-Mart gift certificate to Jordan Fee and Roger Powers; $100.00 Wal-Mart gift card to Daryl Kopriva.  Mikey Lewis and Ryan Cooksey each won a car wash set from Bumper to Bumper of Quinter. Dr. Shelly Gruenbacher, Shawn Mesch, Bob Mullins, and Don Corwin all won a $10.00 gift certificate to Alta Convenience store along with 2 Freddy’s combo meal cards. Trent Schneider won a women’s golf glove.  Both Shawn Cross and Darren Flax won a box of golf balls printed with the tournament name.
