STAFFORD COUNTY – A Rooks County woman died in an accident just after 11a.m. on Saturday in Stafford County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Ford Escort driven by George H. Wiebe, 77, St. Louis, Mo., was stopped southbound on U.S. 281 at U.S. 50 and failed to yield at the intersection.
The Ford pulled in front of and collided with a 2004 Honda Accord driven by Jonathan D. Ensz, 22 Cimarron that was eastbound on U.S. 50.
The Honda also collided with a 2010 Dodge Avenger driven by Gary D. Lumm, 53, Parsons that was stopped northbound on U281 at U50.
A passenger in the Ford Marjorie L. Bice, 87, Plainville, was transported to Wesley Medical Center where she died.
Wiebe and a passenger in the Honda Rachel J. Ensz, 17, Cimarron, were transported to Stafford County Hospital.
Jonathan Ensz, Lumm, two others in the Honda and a passenger in the Dodge were not injured.
A passenger in the Honda Clarke W. Ensz, 18, Hillsboro was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
