Just days after flooding struck northwest and north-central Kansas, an overnight storm dropped more than an inch of rain on portions of Ellis County.
A report north of Hays showed 1.05 inches in the gauge Wednesday morning, while the city received between 0.69 and 0.79 inches. Ellis and Victoria each received about a half-inch of precipitation.
The heaviest rain in the region, however, was from the Palco area, where there were reports of 5.5 and 6 inches. Southeast Graham County also had a report of more than 5 inches of rain.
Western Trego also saw more than an inch of rain.
The skies are expected to clear Wednesday, with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms returning to the region Thursday. Chances of storms persist through Friday.
