It was unseasonably hot in Hays and much of Kansas Tuesday. Several record highs were broken, including in Russell, but not for Hays.

According to official statistics from the K-State Agricultural Research Center, yesterday’s temperature in Hays reached to 97 degrees. The record high for Sept. 20 remains 103 degrees, set just 11 years ago in 2005. One year ago on Sept. 20 the daytime high was a more seasonable 87 degrees.

Today, Sept. 21, is the last official day of summer with the weather forecast is calling for another hot and windy day.
