A Hays man was arrested on drug and gun allegations following a chase with police last week.

According to Hays Assistant Police Chief Brian Dawson, Ryan Paul Thompson, 32, Hays, was observed driving a vehicle displaying a stolen tag just after noon Friday.

Dawson said when the officer tried to pull the vehicle over, Thompson fled, eventually stopping his vehicle on Farley Place Drive where he fled on foot to a residence in the 2200 block of Drum. There, Thompson was apprehended and taken to the Ellis County jail.

Thompson was arrested on suspicion of felony flee or attempt to elude a law enforcement officer by engaging in reckless driving, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal use of a weapon.

Thompson is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
