During National Fire Prevention Week, the city of Hays Fire Department sponsored a home fire escape poster contest open to all third grade students in the elementary schools in the city.

This year’s winners are:
· Holy Family Elementary School: Dominic Depenbusch and Alyssa Church
· Roosevelt Elementary School: Carson Moore, Kal Lonsdale and Oakley Wichers
· Wilson Elementary School: Jenna Kisner, Addie Legleiter and Braiden Bickle
· Lincoln Elementary School: Jasmine Banuelos and Mariella Dreiling
· O’Loughlin Elementary School: Johanna Jones, Dominic Hernandez and Melanie Sagastume

The winners, their families and teachers were the guests of honor at a dinner at the Main Street fire station on Saturday, November 5.

The dinner events included a special tour of the fire station and fire truck ladder rides. Each winner was presented a special city of Hays Fire Department t-shirt.

The school Fire Prevention Week activities and poster contest was coordinated by Firefighter Lyle Pantle.
