FINNEY COUNTY- Law enforcement authorities in Finney County are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident and asking the public for help.

Just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, officers of the Garden City Police Department were called to the area of 700 W. Kansas Avenue for a reported Pedestrian accident, according to a media release.

First responders located Maria Leonarda Macias De Ubiarco, 80, Garden City, dead in the roadway.

The initial investigation revealed Ubiarco was crossing the street southbound on foot in the 700 Block of W. Kansas Ave near Mildred Drive when she was struck by a Silver (or light colored) Chrysler PT Cruiser that was traveling East on Kansas Ave. The PT Cruiser fled the scene.

The Garden City Police Department is seeking information from the public to identify and locate this vehicle and driver.
