JEWELL COUNTY – Law enforcement authorities in Jewell County are investigating a suspect for alleged child abuse.

On Wednesday, deputies arrested Cody Michael Showers, 26, Mankato, for shaking a 7-week-old baby and causing “great bodily harm” on December 15, according to a media release.

On Thursday night, Showers was still in custody on a $100,000 bond, according to Jacobs.

The baby was hospitalized in Wichita.

Showers is due back in court on January 5.
