Kansas new first district congressman ready to begin work

WASHINGTON -The 115th Congress gaveled into session on Tuesday. The House convened at noon with 241 Republicans and 194 Democrats.

Among the members are 52 freshmen including First District Congressman Roger Marshall.

Lawmakers also re-elected Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to hiss first full term as speaker and completed a swearing-in ceremony.

the 115th Congress today.

Marshall from Great Bend defeated tea party favorite Tim Huelskamp in the August Primary and won the November general election.

Marshall stopped by his new office on Monday and posted this photo online. The swearing in ceremony is scheduled for noon.
