Resurfacing project planned on U.S. 183 in Phillips County

Kansas Department of Transportation

The Kansas Department of Transportation expects to begin work on a resurfacing project on a portion of U.S. 183 in Phillips County the week of June 5.

The project will cover an 18-mile stretch of road from the near the north city limits of Phillipsburg to the Nebraska border.

Project work includes a 1-inch mill followed by application of a 2-inch asphalt overlay to improve roadway conditions and extend pavement life.

Traffic in the construction zone will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car during daylight hours. Minor delays not exceeding 15 minutes should be expected.

KDOT reminds motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs and “Give ‘em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through work zones.

Venture Corporation of Great Bend is the primary contractor for the project with a total contract cost of $2.4 million. Work is expected to be completed by the end of July, weather permitting.
