He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary and sister Erma.

He is survived by his son Gary (Thirl) Sears of Smith Center; a sister Vivian Bruner of Kansas City, MO; 3 brothers Duane (Dorothy) Sears of Wellington, Derald (Ethel Belle) Sears and Dwight (Rose) Sears both of Smith Center; 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
