RUSSELL, Kan. – Two more wins Sunday for the Hays Eagle Senior American Legion baseball team who ran their winning streak to nine games. The Eagles used a nine-run second inning to build an 11-0 lead and beat Russell 13-1 in game one of their doubleheader. They rallied with eight runs in the sixth inning and four in the seventh to win the second game 20-9.
Palmer Hutchison hit a grand slam in the first game and a two-run shot in the second game and drove in nine in the two games. Grant Coffman also homered in the second game and drove in four. Coffman allowed one unearned run in 1 2/3 innings relief for the win. Trey Riggs allowed one run on five hits for the win in the first game which was called after four by run rule.
The Eagles are back in action Wednesday with a doubleheader in Ellis.
