The Hays Police Department is investigating a stabbing that occurred in the early morning hours Sunday.

According to the Hays PD, officers were dispatched to Hays Medical Center on Sunday, June 11, at 1:31 a.m. for the report of an individual with a stab wound to the abdomen.

Hays Police Lt. Brandon Wright said the incident allegedly occurred in the 2500 block of General Custer Road at about 12:30 a.m.

Wright said the victim told police he did not know the suspect, who is described as a white male who was wearing all black and last seen leaving the area on foot.

The investigation is ongoing.
