HAYS, Kan. – Chandler Coates allowed one run over six innings and Colin Simpson hit a tie-breaking home run in his debut to lead the Hays Larks to a 5-1 win over Oklahoma City Tuesday night at Larks Park. The game was called in the seventh inning after lightning moved into the area.
Simpson’s solo shot in the fifth broke a 1-1 tie. The Larks (4-4, 4-3 Jayhawk League) would add three in the sixth on Trey Ochoa’s two-run single and Trevor Boone’s fly out.
Coates (1-1) struck out five with one walk in the complete game victory.
Game two of the series is Wednesday night with free admission courtesy of Commerce Bank, Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburger and the Platinum Group.
