LaCrosse, Kansas – Leon Allen Holmes, age 57, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, at his home.  He was born October 27,1959, in Wichita, Kansas to Glen L Holmes and Sharon L. (Propp).

He was a floor hand worker on an oil field drilling rig and was an auto mechanic. He grew up in Wichita and Hays.  He attended Hays High School and in his earlier years he was active with motor cross racing. Leon enjoyed working on his cars and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon L. Englebright, Garden City, KS; his companion, Tracy Epke, of the home; two sisters, Tammy Younger and husband, Troy, Hays, KS; Teresa Holmes, Garden City, KS; and one niece, Tara Holmes, Manhattan, KS.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services will be at 7:00 P.M. Monday, evening at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.  A private family inurnment will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays.
