CITY OF HAYS
Large lot development in the three-mile Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) around Hays will be discussed by the Hays Area Planning Commission during their meeting tonight, Mon., June 19.
City and Ellis County commissioners discussed this during their April 25 joint meeting and felt it would be appropriate to develop a policy to guide this sort of development.
By indicating acceptable areas for large lot development where outward growth of Hays is unlikely, those who may be proposing large lot development will know which areas are acceptable before coming forward with a specific request.
City and county staff have worked together to prepare a map indicating areas where large lot development may be acceptable. Staff also has drafted a large lot development policy to help guide decision makers in approving such developments.
The Planning Commission will also discuss residential lot size limits.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in Hays City Hall, 1507 Main. The complete agenda may be seen here.
