An update on the reconstruction of the Hays wastewater treatment plant will be presented to city commissioners during their Thursday meeting.

Stan Christopher of HDR Engineering, the city’s Owner’s Representative for the $28.4 million project, will discuss the progress since made since his April 27 report. Bi-annual updates will be provided to the commission during the project.

In other business, city commissioners will consider accepting a bid from Paul
Wertenberger Construction, Hays, for $1,589,940 to construct a wildlife fence at the
Hays Regional Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to award Hays a grant for the fence which is required by the FAA. The city would be reimbursed for 90 percent of the costs associated with the project.

City Finance Director Kim Rupp will recommend resolutions to refund water and sewage system revenue bonds for better interest rates.

Rupp will also ask for a resolution authorizing the sale of general obligation bonds financing four benefit district/special assessment projects, and to refinance the water and sewage system revenue bonds.

The June 22 meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in Hays City Hall, 1507 Main. The complete agenda is available here.
