🎥 Summer heat blast followed by cooling summer rain

It was hot in Hays Thursday with the mercury soaring to an official 100 degrees, according to the K-State Agricultural Research Center.

Rain moved in just before 10:30 p.m., accompanied by a brilliant lightning storm in the west. The storm dropped 0.30 rain in Hays and cooled the air to an overnight low of 58 degrees.

The rain returned about 8 a.m. Friday with another 0.14 inches and several minutes of pea-sized hail falling as of 8:30 a.m.

Hays has received 2.90 inches of rain in June. So far in 2017, 18.16 inches of moisture has been measured.
