OKLAHOMA CITY – Colin Simpson hit a three-run home run and Alex Lopez allowed just one run over seven innings as the Hays Larks beat Oklahoma City 7-2 Tuesday.
Simpson’s home run, his fifth of the season, came in the top of the first inning; giving Hays a 3-0 lead and that would be all that Lopez needed.
Lopez scattered two hits over seven innings allowing just the one run, a sixth inning home run, while striking out seven. He improved to 4-0 on the season.
Hays added two more runs in the third inning on an Alex Weiss RBI single and an RBI double by Clayton Harp on their way to the 7-2 win.
Simpson reached base five times in the game, he walked three times and drove in four runs.
Hays is 12-6 in the Jayhawk League, two and a half games back of first place Liberal.
The Larks and the Indians will play a doubleheader tonight in Oklahoma City.
