FHSU women’s basketball team ranked 13th in WBCA National Honor Roll

ATLANTA – The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team earned a spot on the 2016-17 WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the third-straight year and the seventh time in the last eight seasons, announced Wednesday (July 19) by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The Tigers earned a cumulative GPA of 3.624, ranking 13th in the nation.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade point average (GPA) inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.

The Tigers were one of three MIAA programs among the top 25.

The 3.624 GPA is the second highest during Hobson’s tenure (3.628, 2011-12). Additionally, this is the seventh time in Hobson’s nine years as head coach at Fort Hays State that the women’s basketball team earned the WBCA Academic Top 25 honor. The team ranked 14th in 2009-10, 11th in 2010-11, 4th in 2011-12, 14th in 2012-13, 23rd in 2014-15, 22nd in 2015-16 and 13th this year.
