Don Mollenkamp, 97, passed away on August 21, 2017 at the Trego Lempke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. He was born on March 9, 1920 on the farm in Trego County near Arnold, Kansas the son of Louis and Alvina (Huehl) Mollenkamp.
He was a farmer and stockman and a member of the United Methodist Church in Arnold. He enjoyed weekly meals and activities at the Ransom Senior Center, bowling and dancing in earlier years.
He married Vivian McKinley on March 1, 1944, in WaKeeney, Kansas. She died on March 21, 1982.
Don is survived by two daughters, Corlie and her husband, Chet Halbleib – Tucson, Arizona and Leisa and her husband, Tim Hansen – Colby; two sons, Gerald and his wife, Donna Mollenkamp – Oxford and Kirby and his wife, Dorothy Mollenkamp – Wakeeney; 12 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alfred, Walter, and George Mollenkamp and three sisters, Nettie Huxman, Luella Griffith, and Mildred Smith and a great granddaughter, Mia Dickson.
Funeral service will be on Friday, August 25, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Burial in the Arnold Cemetery, Arnold. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
