In Loving Memory:
Theda Blythe Carman was born on February 27, 1928, in Colby, Kansas to Christmas Carol Carman and Edith (Brainard) Carman. She passed away Thursday August 24, 2017, at Sheridan County Health Complex LTC to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Theda was the third daughter of four siblings raised on the family farm north of Selden. She attended Selden Grade School and graduated from Selden Rural High School.
On April 6, 1949, Theda was united in marriage to Fred McKee at the Selden United Methodist Church. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, for a year working in a watch factory. They then made their home in Selden where they lived most of their life. In that union, Fred and Theda were blessed with 3 daughters and 2 sons. They later moved to Hoxie, Kansas, to be closer to their children. After Fred passed away in 2012, Theda moved to the Ridgewood Manor. She resided there until her illness.
She was a member of the Selden Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She had many hobbies in her past time. These included crocheting, cooking, gardening, and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Above all she was a homemaker. She devoted her life to making a loving home for her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family. Wherever Theda resided she always welcomed everyone into her home as Family, especially those friends at Ridgewood Manor.
Theda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; daughter, Candace May; and two sisters, Carol Hill and Barbara Spurgeon.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Gail and Dale Smith of Colona, Illinois, and Rhonda and Ed Miller of Hoxie, Kansas; two sons, Matt McKee of Lakin, Kansas and Jack McKee of Hoxie, Kansas; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Helen Carman of Selden, Kansas; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
