Three from Ellis Co. arrested as part of narcotics trafficking investigation

At 11:30 p.m. Monday, members of the Ellis County Drug Enforcement Unit, along with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Hays Police Department, Ellis Police Department and Kansas Bureau of Investigation, executed seven search warrants in the cities of Ellis and Hays and in rural Ellis County.

There were five warrants executed in Ellis, one in Hays and one in rural Ellis County.

The warrants were the extension of an ongoing narcotic trafficking investigating, which yielded the arrest of three Ellis County residents — Thomas J. Grubb, 47; Crystal L. Hayes, 45; and Sandra K. Schutte-Finlay, 39.

The individuals arrested were booked into the Ellis County jail with cvharges pending upon completion of the investigation.

Officers seized methamphetamine, U.S. currency, contraband, weapons and vehicles, according to a news release from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
