FHSU Management Development Center, WSU partner on project management workshop

FHSU University Relations and Marketing

Managing the scope of a project is one of the most difficult and demanding jobs of a project manager.

Pinning down the project scope starts with a clear understanding of the needs and expectations of the key stakeholders. It involves more than just knowing what needs done. It also requires knowing what not to do and how to manage changes that inevitably come up during a project.

The Management Development Center at Fort Hays State University, in partnership with Wichita State University, will offer “Project Scope and Requirements Management” from 9 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 24 and 25, in the Expeditions Room at the university’s Sternberg Museum of Natural History, 3000 Sternberg Drive, in Hays.

Participants in this two-day workshop will work in teams to develop a project charter, gather requirements, write a scope statement and create a Work Breakdown Structure, as well as learn to manage scope once the work begins. Christina House, president of Galileo Group in Wichita, will facilitate. House is a certified project management professional and a certified coach through the International Coach Federation.

Each person who completes a workshop will receive a completion certificate.

The cost for Project Scope and Requirements Management is $849. Lunch and refreshments are included for both days.

The Management Development Center at FHSU is recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to offer professional development credits for SHRM Certified Professionals or SHRM Senior Certified Professionals. These programs are valid for credits for the CP or SCP credentials. For more information about certification or recertification, visit shrmcertification.org.
