CITY OF HAYS
Hays Mayor Shaun Musil has signed a proclamation declaring November 25, 2017, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, as Small Business Saturday in Hays.
Advocacy groups, public and private organizations across the country are endorsing Small Business Saturday.
The proclamation includes statistics about “small businesses employ 48 percent of the employees in the private sector in the United States” and “…the city of Hays supports our local businesses that create jobs, boost our local economy, and preserve our neighborhoods…”.
The Hays proclamation also urges support of small businesses and merchants throughout the year.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, there are currently 28.8 million small businesses in the United States, representing 99.7 percent of all businesses with employees in the U.S., and they are responsible for 63 percent of new jobs created the past 20 years.
