ANDOVER, Kan.-It was a cold Tuesday night in Andover for the 4-1A State Soccer Quarterfinals between the Hays High Indians and the Andover Central Jaguars with temperatures dipping into the upper 30’s. Both teams showed very strong defense throughout the season entering the match. Tuesday’s match-up would prove to be a defensive battle as well.

The Jaguars would draw first blood as the would score from the left side in the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Hays High would make a couple of first half runs that put them on the Andover Central doorstep but they could not take advantage. Central led 1-0 at halftime.

The second half proved costly for the Indians. They gave up a goal in the 69th minute and then scarmbled to stay in the game late. The Jaguars would score two goals in the 74th minute to put the game in the bag. Hays High finishes the season at 12-7 while Andover Central improves to 15-3 and moves on to the state semi-finals in Olathe on Friday.
