Police: Kansas man wounded after friend drops a handgun

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting.

Just before 10p.m. Sunday, police responded to report of a shooting in the 800 Block of south Topeka in Wichita, according to officer Paul Cruz.

Officers found a 42-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to his calf.  The man told police a friend was at his apartment and dropped a handgun on the floor that discharged and hit him in the leg.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and released. Cruz released no additional details.
