TOPEKA — Chief Justice Lawton R. Nuss announced today the Supreme Court has reappointed Judge Glenn R. Braun to a two-year term as chief judge of the 23rd Judicial District, effective January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2019.
Braun has served as district judge since 2012 and chief judge since 2016. He presides over cases in Ellis, Rooks, Trego, and Gove counties.
“We are glad that Judge Braun agreed to serve another two years as chief judge, providing continuity in capable leadership in the 23rd Judicial District,” said Nuss.
“I appreciate the confidence expressed by the Supreme Court in making this appointment. Working with the clerks and staff of the 23rd Judicial District is an honor. Their dedication and commitment guarantees to everyone involved with the courts access to equal justice under the law,” Braun said.
Braun is a graduate of Kansas State University and Washburn University School of Law.
Before becoming judge, Braun was in private practice for 31 years. He also served as the Ellis County attorney, Hays city prosecutor, and commissioner of the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission. Braun was previously elected by his fellow lawyers as president of the Kansas Bar Association.
Each of Kansas’ 31 judicial districts has a chief judge who, in addition to his or her judicial responsibilities, has general control over case assignments within the district, as well as general supervisory authority over the administrative and clerical functions of the court.
