HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State outscored Central Christian College 15-3 over the final 7:18, erasing a five-point deficit, for a 64-57 win in their homer opener Wednesday night at Gross Coliseum. The Tigers, who shot under 30-percent for the game, built an eight point lead early in the second half only to see CCC answer with a 20-5 run to take the lead with a little over 10 minutes to play.

Brady Werth led Fort Hays State with 18 points pulled down a team best nine rebounds. He fueled the comeback by scoring eight straight points. Werth hit just three of his 12 field goal attempts but connected on 12 of 14 free throws.
Marcus Cooper added 17 points and eight boards while Trey O’Neil scored all 11 of his points in the second half. O’Neil hit three of the Tigers five 3-pointers including one with 4:38 to play to put Fort Hays State in front.
FHSU (2-1) outrebounded Central Christian by 12 and scored 14 points off of 17 offensive rebounds.
Kyler Kinnamon dished out four the Tigers 13 assists on their 16 made baskets.
FHSU hits is in Golden, Colorado Friday to face No. 9 Colorado School of Mines.
