Kansas Farm Bureau 2018 Safety Poster Program opens

KFB

Adults agree that child safety is an important topic; the trick is getting the kids to agree. In an effort to reduce accidents by developing “safety-minded” youth, Kansas Farm Bureau has sponsored the KFB Safety Poster Program for more than 65 years.

Each year thousands of youth in grades 1-6 participate statewide. Posters are judged on the county Farm Bureau level with the winning poster from each of the three divisions submitted for judging at the state level. Kansas Farm Bureau sponsors the Safety Poster Program to reduce accidents by encouraging youth to think “safety minded.”

The theme for this year is Farm Safety First: No One Can Take Your Place!

Suggested topics include: General Health, Fire Safety, Distracted Driving, Hearing Protection and Respiratory Safety. These topics will also be the focus of the 2018 Agriculture Safety Awareness Program (ASAP) Week, so winning posters may be used to promote that annual event.

County winning posters must be submitted by March 16, 2018.

Farm Safety presentations can be scheduled in Ellis County Schools in January and February. If you are an educator or know of one that would be willing to host a guest speaker to talk about Farm Safety in the classroom setting, please contact Ellis County Farm Bureau County Coordinator Stephanie Eckroat @ 785-639-4988 or [email protected]
