Seven Hays High football players were named to the All-WAC football teams following the 2017 season. On the offensive side of the ball Dante Blackmon was named first team as a lineman and Hunter Brown as a first team skill player. Named to the first team on the defensive side of the ball was Dylan Schmidtberger as a defensive lineman and linebacker Palmer Hutchison.
Logan Clark garnered second team honors as a specialty player. Also named to the second team on the defensive side of the ball was Logan Schulte on the defensive line and Keaton Markley as a defensive back.
Garden City’s Brian Hill was named the coach of the year after his Buffaloes won the conference title with a 3-1 record. Quarterback Garret Doll of Garden City was selected as the conference’s player of the year on the offensive side of the ball. The defensive player of the year is defensive lineman Demarcus Elliot of Garden City.
Hays High finished in a three way tie for second place in the conference with Great Bend and Liberal at 2-2. Dodge City finished third at 1-3.
