HAYS, Kan. – Kasey Kennett scored a career-high 20 points, Tatyana Legette added 19 and Belle Barbieri pulled down a career-best 10 rebounds in her first career start to lead the Fort Hays State women to a 75-70 win over No. 19 Pittsburg State at Gross Coliseum. Kennett hit five of her seven 3-point attempts and had four steals as the Tigers win their seventh straight at home over nationally ranked opponents.

Kennett’s fifth 3-pointer near the end of the third quarter put the Tigers (7-0, 2-0 MIAA) ahead for good at 54-51. Carly Heim hit a three to push the lead to eight and FHSU hit seven of their eight free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Gorillas.
Mikaela Burgess hit a couple of late 3-pointers as Pitt State (6-2, 0-2 MIAA) closed the gap to two with 45 seconds to play. Burgess finished with 24 points to lead the Gorillas.
Freshman Whitney Clampitt hit two free throws to push the lead back to four and the Tigers were able to hold on the rest of the way.
Pittsburg State entered the game with the second fewest turnovers in the MIAA but had 15, 11 of them in the second half, resulting in 17 FHSU points.
