4th annual toy show to be held at National Guard Armory

The fourth annual toy show will be hosted at the National Guard Armory, 200 Main, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $3 and free for children 10 years and younger.

The event is a big family event designed to get the hobby of collecting toys back into style, said an organizer. The older generation is retiring and the younger generation is focused more on their cellphones, which enticed Mark Wendelburg to hold the event.

Wendelburg has grown up around these collectibles his entire life.

“It is nice for people to hunt for something or just something they don’t have in their personal collection,” he said.

Others helping with the organization of the event are Clint Straub and John Kreutzer. Vendors at the event will be selling collectible sports cards, NASCAR, farm tractors, toy cars, dolls, DCP trucks, trains, models, cast iron, action figures and more.

“I’ve been going to toy collector shows since I was 4 and, it’s just a great time to enjoy with family and share the experience with fellow collectors,” Wendelburg said.

“My favorite part about the event is just the neat stories you get to hear about the different collectibles and the expressions on the adults and even the kids’ faces,” Wendelburg said.
