BARTON COUNTY — One person was injured in an accident just before 4p.m. Monday in Barton County.
The Barton County Sheriff’s office reported a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Francis Haberman, 91, Great Bend was southbound on Washington Street.
Witnesses at the scene stated a 2004 International trash truck driven by Michael Furrey Great Bend, stopped at the stop sign at NW 30 Road and Washington Street for westbound traffic and then pulled into the path of the Ford Ranger, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.
Haberman was unable to get out of the vehicle due to crush damage and was assisted by law enforcement officers. He was transported to Great Bend Regional and later flown to a Wichita area hospital. Furrey was not injured.

The intersection was closed for approximately an hour and a half for removal of debris and investigation, according to Bellendir.
The sheriff’s department reported no additional details.
