Virginia F. Abbott

Virginia F. Abbott, a resident of rural Agra, passed away on Thursday, September 27,2018 at the Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, KS at the age of 82.

She was born June 24, 1936 in Ashland, KS to Roy and Ruth (Wright) Fox.

She married Myron Abbott on July 29, 1961 in Ashland, KS. From this marriage, they had one son, Travis.
Virginia was very proud of attending Emporia Teachers college where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught math in Phillipsburg, KS where she met Myron. They moved briefly to Benkleman, NE before settling back to the Abbott family farm where she spent the rest of her life.

She enjoyed being a mother and homemaker but was not just a farmers wife. She loved getting out and driving the tractor as well as checking on the cows and horses. She also got pleasure from being able to babysit her grandchildren and attend their activities.

Survivors include her son, Travis, and wife Anne (Berland) of Kensington. Her grandson, Justin and wife Amy, of Kensington and granddaughter, Hailey of Hays. She has one great-grandson, Adam also of Kensington.

She was preceded in death by her husband Myron, parents, and siblings Verona Trease, Gene Fox, and Claudette Hensley.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 1st at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church, Kensington, with Pastor Lorna Paulus officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to her great grandchildren’s education.

Visitation will be from noon to 9:00 Sat. & Sun. at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with the family receiving friends from 3:00 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon.
