SMITH CENTER, Kan. – The TMP-Marian volleyball team opened pool play at the Mid-Continent League Tournament 1-1. The Monarchs were swept by Phillipsburg 23-25 and 20-25 then swept Hill City 25-20, 25-14.

Emilee Lane led TMP in kills with 14. Emilee Augustine and Jillian Lowe both had 16 digs. Augustine added five service saces and Kassidi Yost 22 assists.

The Moanrchs will close out pool play Saturday against Trego and Oakley. The top two teams from the two pools advance to the semifinals which will follow pool play.

Phillipsburg, Smith Center and Norton both went 2-0. The Monarchs and Plainville are both 1-1. Stockton, Ellis, Hill City and Oakley both finished 0-2.
