Darrell D. Ehrlich

Darrell D. Ehrlich passed away on October 22, 2018, at the Via Christi Villages in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 81.

He was born on December 28, 1936 to Julius and Eunice (Steinle) Ehrlich in Hoisington, Kansas. Darrell married Anne Podlena on October 25, 1975. He adopted her five children: Christina, Richard, David, Laura, and Jane; and had four of his own: Randy, Wendell, Kelly, and Shelly.

Darrell grew up and attended school in Claflin, Kansas. He was a driller in the oilfields before he began trucking. He loved trucking and was able to work until he was 79. Darrell was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson. He loved telling stories, Christmas, and black and white westerns.
Darrell is survived by his wife Anne of Haven; children Christina Rizley and husband Darrel of Wichita, Richard Ehrlich of Haven, David Ehrlich and wife Connie of Lawrence, Laura Holland and husband Kurt of Wichita, Jane Soukup and husband Roy of Hays, Kelly Pasek and husband Larry of Dorrance, and Shelly Whitmer and husband Michael of Dorrance; brother Jim Ehrlich and wife LaNita of Wilson; sister-in-law Vera Ehrlich of Wilson; 9 grandchildren Rashelle Rucker, Jarod Rucker (Sarah), Alyssa Smith (Shane), Jacob Rucker, Robert Whitmer (Shana), Brian Whitmer (Krista), Dustin Pasek, Nathan Pasek (Valerie), and Johannon Rucker (Kirsten); 8 great-grandchildren Braedyn Smith, Trace and Ellie Mae Whitmer, Zoey and Kellan Whitmer, Brityn Pasek, Briceson, Deven, and Emmalin.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents Julius & Eunice Ehrlich; brother, Tom Ehrlich; and sons Randy Ehrlich and Wendell Keller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 2:00-8:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Vigil at 7:00 P.M. all at the funeral home in Wilson.
