Paradise UMW Bazaar & Turkey Dinner

Saturday, November 10, the Paradise United Methodist Women will hold their 68th annual Bazaar and Turkey Dinner in the Paradise Auditorium on Main Street, Paradise, KS.

The Bazaar features the church cookbook, hand-made crafts, home-made baked items as well as candies, jellies, and other foods. All items are reasonably priced.

The Bazaar opens at 10:30 a.m. and the turkey dinner begins at 10:45 a.m. The menu includes turkey and dressing with all the trimmings, including homemade rolls, pies and desserts. Carryout is also available.

The event is held the first day of pheasant hunting season, providing a great meal for hunters as well as anyone else who enjoys visiting with old friends over a delicious meal at an affordable price.

Police: Wanted Kan. sex offender purchased Halloween mask before arrest

MIAMI COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect who absconded from a work release program in Johnson County.

On Wednesday, police in Paola issued an alert to locate 38-year-old Jason Hale.

The known violent sex offender also wanted by the US Marshals office was last known to be in Gardner prior to coming to Paola to a local bank on Wednesday, according to Paola police.
The suspect purchased camping supplies, a bicycle and a Halloween “Jason” mask in Gardner before his capture.

Authorities did not release details of the arrest. Hale has a previous conviction for aggravated indecent liberties with a child from 2009, according to the Kansas Offender Registry.

With your $20 donation we will enter you in a drawing for cash prizes from Dec. 1 ranging from $100 a day to $300 a day, and 3 final cash drawings on Dec. 21-$500, Dec. 22 for $1,000, and ending the 23rd of December with the grand drawing for $2,500.

Proceeds from this raffle will support over 500 children in Western Kansas who have suffered abuse.

About Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center
The WKCAC is a non-profit organization and has 6 standalone centers located in Sublette, Scott City, Garden City, Liberal, Colby and Hays, and also operates 5 Mobile Child Advocacy Center / Therapy Busses. The centers serve as a child friendly place to interview children who have been victims of sexual or physical abuse or who have witnessed a violent crime.

Covering 34 counties of western Kansas, the WKCAC provides expertly trained forensic interviewers to aid child protective services and law enforcement in interviewing child victims. Child and Family Advocates at the WKCAC work directly with the child and non-offending family members to educate them on the
judicial process, to provide support and to assure they are receiving needed services such as medical and mental health treatment. The WKCAC acts as a liaison to bring agencies such as: DCF, law enforcement, county attorneys, medical and mental health and advocacy services together to work in the multi-disciplinary team approach. The philosophy of the WKCAC is always to strive for what is best for the child.

Play Synopsis: The first collaboration of famed partners Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, Oklahoma! set the American musical theatre standard. Set in the Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th Century, the spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. The road to true love is anything but smooth, but there is no doubt that these two romantics will succeed in making a life together.
