McCrae leads Indians to fourth place finish at 5A State Golf

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Tradgon McCrae shot a 3-under-par 68 and finished in third place at the 5A State Golf Tournament Wednesday at Mariah Hills Golf Course in Dodge City. The senior had seven birdies and finished one-shot behind Tyler Trudo of Goddard-Eisenhower and Gentry Scheve of Emporia.

Fellow senior Josh Norris fired a 3-over-par 74 and finished in a four-way tie for 15th place.

The 68 by McCrae was the lowest 18 hole score by a Hays High golfer ever at a state tournament. His season average of 73.6 broke the season stroke average of 73.7 that he had shared with Trey Herman. His career stroke average of 76.2 erased the 76.8 career average of Nick VonLintel (2008-11).

The Indians shot a 304, their lowest round of the season and finished in fourth place, six shots back of third place Kapaun Mt. Carmel.

Andover Central won the team title with a 293. St. Thomas Aquinas was second with a 297.
