The Hays Larks rallied from down seven runs Sunday to earn their first Kansas Collegiate Baseball League win over the Dodge City A’s 9-8 in Hays.
The A’s lead 7-0 through four innings but the Larks Mikey Gangwish homered as part of a four run Hays fourth to cut the deficit to 7-4.
After the A’s got a run back in their half of the fifth inning Hays added three more in the fifth to cut the A’s lead to 8-7.
The Larks tied the game at eight in the sixth inning when they scored a run on a wild pitch.
Neither team was able to push across a run until the 11th when Wyatt Divis singled home Gangwish for the walk-off win.
Gangwich, Divis and Drake Angeron all drove in two run for Hays.
Reliever Rustin Hays allowed just a solo homerun in seven innings of relief and earned the victory for the Larks.
The Larks are 2-1 on the season.
Game two of the series is Tuesday night in Dodge City.
