Dale L. Soderlund

Dale L. Soderlund was born January 20, 1931 in Kanona, KS to Frank and Doretta (Butler) Soderlund. He passed away June 23, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Decatur County, at the age of 88.

Dale attended grade school in Kanona. He married Lenora Ruth Wilkening on August 7, 1949 at the Rural Lutheran Church. He grew up on a farm and continued to farm and raise cattle until he retired in 2005. Dale was also an auctioneer. He was a member of JC’s, Prairie Chapel Methodist Church and 4-H. Dale was a hard worker and enjoyed working with his farming tenants. He loved rodeos, calf roping, fishing, and slot machines, but most of all he loved being around kids.

Dale had four goals in life: 1. For his wife to have a good home 2. For his kids to have a good education because he didn’t have one 3. He wanted to be a successful and self-sufficient farmer/rancher 4. He wanted to drive a new Cadillac.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lenora; son, Larry Soderlund in 1979 and brothers: Alfred, Gary, Wayne, and Francis Soderlund.

He is survived by his son, Steve Soderlund and wife Jan of Parker, CO; sisters: Delores Depperschmidt of Oberlin, KS and Doreen Sabin of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Kellie McGill and husband Avery; grandson, Michael Soderlund; great grandsons, Kaden and Kai; family friends, Doug and Pat Brown and their daughter Skyler and extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 1, 2019 at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. Inurnment at Oberlin Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dale L. Soderlund Memorial Fund.
