Tribune, Kansas, resident Bernard (Bernie) Nemechek, 90, passed away on May 29, 2019, at the Greeley County Long Term Care inTribune, KS.
He was born on November 3, 1928, in Ellis, KS to parents Frank and Regina Nemecek who have preceded him in death. He married Joyce L. Smith on M ay 22, 1948, in Sharon Springs, KS. He is survived by his children Trudy and John Thorburn, Buffalo, WY, Brent and Beth Nemechek, Tribune, KS, and Blake and Carmelle Nemechek, Colorado Springs, CO, seven grandchildren, Ryan and Nicole Thorburn, Jenna Thorburn, Amy and Pete Michalczyk, Rhett Thorburn, Nick and Jenifer Nemechek, Andrew Nemechek, Cody Nemechek and eight great grandchildren, Madelyn, Gabrielle, Addison, Hayden, Peyton, Rylee, Harper and Hadley.
Preceding him in death also were his sisters; Rose Martino, Mary Blackburn, and brothers; Joe, Frank and Ernest Nemechek.
Bernie was a long time business man in Tribune, KS. He owned and operated Southside Service and retired to Sun City, Arizona where he a Joyce lived for many years. Following a long and wonderful retirement in Arizona, Bernie and Joyce decided to return to Tribune due to declining health. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sun City and the United Methodist Church in Tribune. He volunteered for his church as well as many Sun City community projects.
Bernie will be laid to rest on November 4, 2019 in the Greeley County Cemetery following graveside services at 11:00 AM MT.
Memorials may be designated to the United Methodist Church in Tribune or the Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
