Huelskamp Votes to Hold Washington Bureaucrats Accountable

On Thursday, Congressman Tim Huelskamp voted for the balance of the package of bills that will help stop government abuse and make Executive Branch officialsHuelskamp more accountable. The eight bills include: H.R. 2711 (Citizen Empowerment Act), H.R. 2579 (Government Employee Accountability Act), H.R. 1660 (Government Customer Service Improvement Act), H.R. 313 (Government Spending Accountability Act), H.R. 1541 (Common Sense in Compensation Act), H.R. 2565 (STOP IRS Act), H.R. 2769 (Stop Playing on Citizen’s Cash Act), and H.R. 2768 (Taxpayer Bill of Rights Act).

Rep. Huelskamp made the following statement after the bills were passed by the House:

“Federal bureaucrats behaving badly managed to make more news this year than Yankee Alex Rodriguez or actor Alec Baldwin. Whether it was producing pricey, cheesy movie parodies to amuse themselves, throwing lavish multi-million dollar conferences at vacation resorts, or paying themselves five-figure cash bonuses they did not earn, it is as though Obama Administration officials were auditioning for starring roles in a film entitled ‘Bureaucrats Gone Wild.’”

Huelskamp added: “These bills are a much needed step in the right direction. I demand the Senate pass these bills immediately so that we can end the Government’s culture of lawlessness, waste, fraud, and abuse. The Obama Administration has proven unable or unwilling to police itself. If the House does not also remain vigilant in its vigorous oversight, the bureaucracy will continue to be plagued by corruption, cronyism, misfeasance, and malfeasance.”
