Flooding is a problem in many areas of South Central Kansas. Drivers will need to be careful from Wichita to Great Bend. Some in Reno County spent the night in a temporary shelter. Seven inches of rain fell over the weekend in the Nickerson and Hutchinson area forcing emergency officials to declare a disaster area.
The nearby Cow creek broke its banks and that sent a lot of water into areas of south Hutchinson. The Trinity United Methodist Church has provided shelter for a number of area residents.
Over the past two weeks Hutchinson has received over 9 inches of rain. Great Bend has had 8.69 inches. Wichita has received over 10 inches.
