Brant Alan Seba will make his first court appearance today.  Seba has been charged by Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt with two counts of first-degree murder charges and an attempted first-degree murder charge in connection with last week’s shooting in Pratt.

One count of first-degree murder is in connection with the shooting death of Alexandria J. Duran and a second count in connection with the death of Duran’s unborn child.

Schmidt also filed a count of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the shooting and wounding of Brandon D.C. Wright.

In addition to the criminal charges, Schmidt filed notice that if Seba is convicted of any charges less than first-degree murder, the state will ask the jury the find that the crimes were racially motivated and ask the court to impose longer prison terms because of that factor.

Seba remains in the Pratt County jail in lieu of $2 million bond.
